Founded by The Border Theatre and The Rio Grande Writers’ Room in December of 2018, Icarus was a Rookie is a fun and exciting project where 30 original works are performed in the span of 90 minutes. The show is back for the first time since that whole global pandemic thing. That’s right…Icarus was Rookie has been revived…

If you like fun and funny and music and a good time be sure to come check it out.

But if our word is not enough take the word of What’s Up/El Paso, Inc. Editor Victoria Molinar, “I haven’t laughed this much in a while! I thoroughly enjoyed tonight’s  Border Theatre  show, Icarus Was a Rookie. Everyone’s favorite 30-play-in-90-minute fiasco — where we shouted random menu items to decide the next 3-min performance> I ended up being one of the performers because I was “randomly” selected to flap my wings around the stage after each short (menu item No. 4, "Icarus is Among Us"); where a sick band called The Hot Bachs sang about the finer things in life, like toilet paper. Thank you to everyone involved! It’s been a while since I’ve seen a Border Theatre show, and I’m so glad I didn’t miss tonight’s performance.”

Still not enough? Theatre Jones called the show “Wholly original and mostly pretty damn good.”
